The Midget A1 team is continuing to prove that their promotion to Tier 1 at the halfway mark of the season was no fluke.
Since making the jump, the boys have gone 5-2-1 and capped off the regular season last week with a big 5-2 win against Ridge Meadows.
“Overall, the boys are playing really well,” said head coach Cleve Astle. “They’re working hard and they don’t quit, they keep going right to the end.”
As the team starts to prepare for the first round of the playoffs, the big focus has been on maintaining a controlled and aggressive breakout. Other than that, it’s a classic case of “keep playing like you’ve been playing.”
“They’re making way better decisions with the puck. When you play better teams, you play better yourself. They’ve showed they can play there and I think it’s opened a lot of eyes around the league,” Astle said.
